At Paradigm Behavioral Health, we are committed to creating a revolution in mental and behavioral health and wellness. We believe that it is time to fundamentally change the way we think about and approach mental health care, and to eradicate the stigma that still surrounds it. We currently have openings in person in Freeland, MI, as well as virtual appointments.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, one in five people experience a mental health disorder at some point in their lives. At Paradigm Behavioral Health, we are dedicated to providing holistic care to people of all ages, using the most current and effective evidence-based practices. Our team of psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners and therapists work together to provide individualized, humanized care that is overseen by a physician.
We are passionate about helping others and believe that it is time to move beyond the outdated notion that mental health issues reflect a character flaw. Instead, we embrace a proactive approach to mental wellness that recognizes the unique needs and experiences of each individual. We respect individuality and work together with the patient to develop the best treatment approach possible. We hope to partner with you to help bring about a paradigm shift in your mental health care.
Talk therapy, also known as psychotherapy or counseling, is a form of treatment that involves a trained therapist and a client or patient discussing their thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and experiences. The goal of talk therapy is to help the client or patient explore their emotions, identify patterns of behavior and thinking that may be causing problems, and develop coping skills to better manage their emotions and challenges. Talk therapy can be conducted in individual, group, or family sessions, and can be done in person, over the phone, or online. Talk therapy can be effective for a wide range of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and substance abuse.
A psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) is a specialized type of nurse practitioner who focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions. PMHNPs are advanced practice nurses who are trained to assess, diagnose, and treat mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and addiction. They are licensed to prescribe medication, as well as provide therapy and other forms of treatment for their patients. PMHNPs work with individuals, families, and groups, and may work in a variety of settings, including hospitals, clinics, private practices, and community mental health centers. PMHNPs play a critical role in providing mental health care to underserved populations, and are an important part of the mental health care team.
In Michigan, PMHNPs work in collaboration with physicians. At Paradigm, our PMHNPs have a healthy, respectful working relationship with our collaborative physician.
If for whatever reason, we are not a good fit, there are a few options that can be considered. One option is to try to find a provider to better fit their needs.
Another option is to consider a referral to another provider or practice. A referral can be made to a different therapist or practice that may be a better fit for the patient's needs. The patient can discuss this possibility with their current therapist or a healthcare professional, who can help connect them with appropriate resources.
It is important for the patient to feel comfortable and supported in their care, and if the current office is not meeting their needs, it may be necessary to consider other options.
Certain psychiatric conditions require specialized care. If we are not able to provide that care, we will happily help you find someone who can.
To ensure each person is able to obtain the best mental health care, each individual is asked a set of questions. These questions are in place to make sure we can provide the care you need. If we do not have providers who specialize in the care you need, we will do our best to provide resources to outside offices that may be able to help.
To request care:
1. Text your full legal name, DOB, email address, phone number, and type of insurance to our office at 989-573-5043. You can also call and leave a voicemail with the same information.
2. A member of our team will reach back out in about 2-3 business days via email with a simple questionnaire.
3. A provider will review the returned questionnaire. If the patient and provider are a good fit, the patient will be sent a link to our patient portal!
